Orange Cheese

Ever wondered why some cheeses are orange in color? The bright orange hue you see in Colby and American-made Cheddar cheeses are from the Annatto seed (also known as Achiote). Not only is it used to impart color in cheese, it is also used as a coloring agent in various Latin and Caribbean dishes.

  1. Super interesting, I didn't know this. Now I have an interesting tidbit to share next time I'm at a wine and cheese party.
