A Good Meal

Every month I like to go to the Alameda Antique Faire. It's a vast space of 26 rows filled with vintage goods of all sorts. And, while shopping, you can definitely work up an appetite. There's always a great selection of foods at the faire, everything from organic cheese burgers to grilled octopus! Scolari's menu sounded so appealing at the time-good ol' comfort food. When I saw the muffuletta on the menu I knew I had to try this New Orleans favorite. It was DELICIOUS and probably one of the best gourmet sandwiches I've had in a while.

Scolari's house bread has a crisp exterior and spongy interior-perfect for absorbing the Italian olive salad (the juices soaked up parts of the bread). Generous layers of  ham, salami, hot cappicollo, gave the sandwich a nice spicy kick. Swiss and Provolone cheeses added a nutty and tangy flavor.

You know what's funny is that I really don't care for dill weed. I just had this random craving for potato salad! I must say, I really enjoyed it. The ratio of potatoes to creamy lemon-dill dressing was just right. Perfectly dressed. The potatoes were grilled, giving the salad a smoky background. The dill and sweet corn made it bright and refreshing, unlike any other potato salad I've tasted before.
